The FC Sport emphasizes the design flexibility and potential of Honda's V Flow fuel cell technology - already deployed in the Honda FCX Clarity sedan - and reconfigures it into a lightweight sports car design with an ultra-low center of gravity, powerful electric motor performance and zero-emissions. The design study concept is inspired by supercar levels of performance through low weight and a high-performance, electrically driven fuel cell powertrain. 'The Honda FC Sport explores how to satisfy automotive performance enthusiasts in a world beyond petroleum,' said Dan Bonawitz, vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. 'People who love sports cars will still have a reason to love in a hydrogen- powered future.' The high-output Honda fuel cell powertrain and a sleek, aerodynamic body contribute to the vehicle's performance potential. A modular approach to fuel cell component packaging and the electric drivetrain contribute to the FC Sport's low center of gravity with the majority of vehicle mass distributed between the axles, creating the balanced weight distribution sought after in sports cars.

Although the Honda Insight design team started with a blank piece of paper - in that this was a brand new model with no history - they faced many challenges in creating the exterior appearance of the Honda Insight. On the one hand, as a low emission hybrid car, it had to express environmental credentials - it had to look like a 'green' car - but on the other hand it had to appear dynamic and fun to drive; part of Honda's key design principles. Above all, in line with the positioning of Honda Insight, the design had to appeal to a broad range of people.

The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 based Edo Competition LP710-2 is a faster, more powerful, 2WD version of Lamborghini's flagship model.

The Murcielago LP710-2 is powered by a 6.5 litre V12 engine which develops 710 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The increase in power was achieved through the use of new exhaust headers, new high flow catalytic converters, new mufflers, a new exhaust tip, new performance camshafts, modified cylinder heads and new high flow air filters. The electronic engine control system has been reprogrammed to compliment the mechanical modifications.

The power improvements are not the only modifications to the powertrain. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the LP710-2 is the fact the standard cars AWD system has been replaced with a RWD layout. Aside from the handling changes, this conversion has resulted in a weight saving of 40 kgs (88 lbs).

Cosmetic and aerodynamic modifications to the LP710-2 include a newly developed and beautifully shaped rear wing with an adjustable lip. A 19 inch light alloy wheel set with special Continental high-speed tires completes the Edo Competition package.

World premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show (March 5th thru March 15th 2009): with the 'iChange' the Swiss designers of Rinspeed present a '1-2-3-seater' powered by a 130kw-electric motor. The concept car's striking body structure adapts via 'electronic trick-tail' to the number of passengers: while the sporty and streamlined teardrop shape seats only the driver, two more passengers may join him once the car's rear end has risen as if by magic. In the blink of an eye the full-blooded sports car turns into a compact sportsvan.

With the Rinspeed 'iChange' the automotive jack-of-all-trades Frank M. Rinderknecht and his partners aim to provide thought-provoking impulses for the automobile industry: 'Thinking about variability and the constantly changing energy demand, we have created an extremely flexible vehicle.' The result is a zero-emission car featuring both extremely low weight and aerodynamic drag, thus further reducing the power consumption. - For Mr. Rinderknecht the car's name 'iChange' means more than a flowery phrase: 'If we want to preserve our individual mobility in the future, we have to re-think our conception of cars - above all we need to accommodate the ecological aspects.' The best possible answer the big automakers could find for the 'iChange' woud be a strong 'Yes, we can!'

Suzuki has revealed the A-Star Concept, an A-segment five-door hatchback vehicle that previews a global production model which will be launched on October 2008 in Europe and other Countries including India. It will debut at Auto Expo 2008 in New Delhi.

The launch of the A-Star Concept is the fifth model in Suzuki's world strategy for long-term growth. It follows the launch of the Splash at the 2007 International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt.

Scheduled to debut at Auto Expo 2008 in New Delhi (9-17 January 2008), the Suzuki A-Star Concept is an A-segment five-door hatchback reflecting a focus on world-class environmental compatibility and comfort and will show some of the forthcoming model’s design themes.

The new model will have an all new Euro 5-compliant 1.0-litre aluminium petrol engine with CO2 emissions lower than those of European competitors (target: lower than 109g/km).

Suzuki A-Star ConceptConcept A-Star is the first concept car in which designers from Maruti Suzuki India’s research and development division have been involved from the initial stage of its styling.

Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) and India

The production model of the Concept A-Star will be manufactured at Maruti Suzuki India’s Manesar plant, and will be marketed mainly in Europe and other countries including India. Production is scheduled to start in October 2008.

The new 1.0-litre aluminium engine will be produced by Maruti Suzuki India, and a manual transmission for it will be manufactured by Suzuki Powertrain India, another SMC subsidiary that’s based beside Maruti Suzuki India’s Manesar plant.

Suzuki A-Star ConceptSuzuki Powertrain India also produces a 1.3-litre diesel engine, but SMC does not plan to use it in the new production car as the new 1.0-litre petrol engine is environmentally superior.

SMC is studying options for small diesel engines for production by Suzuki Powertrain India in the future.

Given the importance of India to the Suzuki world strategy, the Corporation is investingsubstantially in Maruti Suzuki between 2007-2009.

It plans to expand production capacity to 960,000 units per year by March 2010.

More than any other sports car in the world, this unique car embodies the typical roadster: The BMW Z4 Roadster thrills the car world through its fascinating, sporting dynamism created by a perfect synthesis of a high-performance power unit, the outstanding chassis and suspension, and innovative features all round. And not least it is the wonderful design of the BMW Z4 Roadster which makes this car so unique, desirable and a genuine must-have. And now, four years after its world debut, the BMW Z4 Roadster is making a new, brilliant appearance with new engines.

New Six-Cylinder Power Unit for the Z4 Roadster

While the six- and four-cylinder power units featured in the BMW Z4 Roadster naturally cannot match the output and performance of the M engine, they are everything but under-powered. Indeed, the new 3.0-liter straight-six in the BMW Z4 Roadster 3.0si is currently the most innovative engine in its class, setting the standard in motoring refinement and dynamic performance. Further strengths are the engine's high output per liter, a very good power-to-weight ratio, and the lowest specific fuel consumption. Maximum output is 265 bhp at 6,600 rpm, maximum engine speed is 7,000 rpm, and the engine maintains its peak torque of 232 lb-ft maintained consistently from 2,500-4,000 rpm. Complying, last but not least, with both the EU4 and ULEV II standards, this outstanding power unit is also a role model from the perspective of the environment.

The most striking feature from the customer's perspective in comparison with the former engine is the sporting responsiveness of the new power unit in conjunction with thrilling engine sound whenever the driver calls up its power, as well as supreme refinement and motoring culture when cruising or just breezing along.

Superior power and low weight naturally also mean superior performance and efficiency: The Z4 Roadster 3.0si accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, acceleration from 50-75 mph in fourth gear comes in 5.5 seconds.

Like the Z4 M Roadster, the Z4 Roadster 3.0si is limited electronically to a top speed of 250 or 155 mph. Fuel consumption in the combined EU cycle, finally, is just 8.6 liters Premium plus/100 km, equal to 32.8 mpg Imp.

A few weeks back Hot wheels celebrated their 40th anniversary at the SEMA show in Sin City with a range of new scaled concept cars from several manufacturers. Lotus was asked as one of those manufacturers and they have finally come through with some high resolution images of their amazing 1:5 scaled concept. In the spring of 2008 a 1:64 model will be featured in the Hot Wheels line-up for all Lotus fans to own.

The Lotus Hot Wheels Concept comes from the same designers who are currently working on the new Lotus Project Eagle, which is scheduled to make its show debut as a concept at the 2008 London Motor Show in July and go into production later in the year.

Steven Crijns, Design Manager at Lotus Design and creator of this concept design explained; “Hot Wheels cars are barely 75mm long, so specific attention went to create a bold shape that would work well at this scale. The car needed to be recognisable as a Lotus without having to turn it over to look at the badge underneath, so I took elements from the Elise and Exige such as the headlight design, the Lotus ‘mouth’, the pronounced wheel arches and trademark bonnet graphics.”

Russell Carr, Head of Lotus Design said; “This was a dream job for the design team because, for many of us, when we were children, it was Hot Wheels that first ignited our passion for cars and design. The design offered unique challenges because it has to work as a toy and we therefore had to remember how specific views, features and tactile qualities of toy cars fascinated us as children.”

Pagani is a famous auto maker that has created its fair portion of supercars. Nevertheless, it is not a name that is well known. In fact unless you are a car enthusiast numerous of you may have never heard of this name before now. This means that you have never had the joy of seeing the Pagani Zonda R.

This supercar is the epitome of class, speed, and pure power! The Pagani Zonda R was fashioned to be driven on the raceway. In fact the Zonda R was designed after the Zonda F model. The supercar is manufactured with a Carbon-Titanium composite that serves to make it lightweight - without sacrificing rigidity. Below the sleek hood rests a Mercedes AMG 6.0 liter engine that can push out 750 horsepower and 710 Nm of torque. The driver uses a direct throttle actuation that is supercharged through a mechanical cable.

The supercar is also built with a 12 way Bosch Motorsport traction control as well as an ABS system. The inside of any vehicle should be cozy and just as gratifying as the exterior. Pagani suffered no expense when it came to the Zonda R’s interior. The controls within of the vehicle are vast and the whole interior is equipped with a quality finish that gives it a great shine.

The seats are Toora and have five point safety belts as well as a CrMo roll cage that works to keep drivers safe. Those able to obtain a Zonda R will have the ability to experience the best performance and speed on the track that you would never be able to get on the road. It has the power to rev up from 0 to 60 in less than 2.7 seconds. The Pagani Zonda R costs a sum of 1.460.000..

Power for the Zonda R comes from a 7.3-liter V-12 sourced from the AMG shop at Mercedes-Benz. Output is a dizzying 750 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque. And as with other Paganis, exhaust gasses are released through four pipes arranged in a square in the center of the car's rear. Between the body, the giant rear wing, and the countless spoilers and diffusers, there's enough carbon fiber on this car to slow up NASA space shuttle construction for months. And while it appears that those spoilers are responsible for 100 percent of the increase in overall length, the Zonda R's wheelbase is actually slightly longer than other models. Pagani hasn't announced a price for the R yet, but frankly, we don't even want to know. We just want a ride.

Attempts to beat Ferrari and Porsche at their own game normally meet with the same success as drunken rows with nightclub bouncers, but Horacio Pagani blew the establishment away with the Zonda back in 1999 and raised the bar once again with the Pagani Zonda F. The central carbon chassis is produced by implementing aeronautical methods and incorporates the Cr-Mo and composite roll bar. The front sub-frame has a high impact absorbing capacity, ensuring an excellent degree of protection; passive safety is optimum in the event of a crash or rollover.

The rear sub-frame is designed to support the load of the mechanics and of the sophisticated aluminium suspensions. In addition, the new Zonda C12 S 7.3 is equipped with ABS, Traction Control, adjustable suspensions with Ohlins shock absorbers, Brembo braking system, with 4 very generously sized self-ventilated discs, 18" OZ Racing alloy wheel rims and specifically designed Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

The engineering in the construction of the Zonda is as innovative as its design concept, and is a statement about the philosophy that guides Haracio Pagani and his team: a search for visual and technical perfection in every detail, even the smallest and most insignificant.

The Pagani Automobili company and Modena Design, the partner in this project, hope that they have reached their goal: the final word in the matter is left to the fortunate owners who are the real fans and connoisseurs of this category. SuperCar.
